Practice for a Job Interview With AI
Rehearsal helps nerves. AI can play the interviewer, ask follow-ups and suggest clearer answers.
Step by step
- Share the role. Paste the job description.
- Ask for a mock interview. Request one question at a time.
- Answer out loud or in writing. Use your real examples.
- Ask for feedback. Request what was clear and what to tighten.
- Prepare your questions. Ask AI to suggest smart questions to ask the employer.
What to expect
Expect practice questions and feedback.
Mistakes to avoid
Do not memorize. Avoid invented stories.
A good next step
Practice aloud.
Practice like it is real, step by step
- Paste the job posting. Ask: "What questions are they likely to ask for this role?"
- Ask for a mock interview. "Interview me one question at a time and wait for my answers."
- Answer out loud or in text. Say it the way you would in the room.
- Ask for feedback. "What was strong? What was vague? How could I be more concise?"
- Repeat the hard ones. Retry until the answer feels natural.
Stories to prepare
Use the STAR shape
- Situation. Set the scene in one sentence.
- Task. Say what you needed to do.
- Action. Describe what you did.
- Result. Share the outcome, with a number if you can.
Questions to ask them
A full practice session
- Warm up. Ask the assistant to act as a friendly interviewer for the exact job, one question at a time.
- Answer out loud. Speak your answer, or type it as you would say it.
- Get feedback. Ask: "Was my answer clear, specific and about 90 seconds? What would make it stronger?"
- Try again. Rewrite the answer and repeat the question.
- Move on to tougher questions. Ask about gaps, weaknesses and conflicts.
Questions you should be ready for
Building your story bank
- Pick five stories. Choose moments of success, problem solving, teamwork, learning and a mistake you fixed.
- Write each in four lines. Situation, task, action, result.
- Match to the job. Highlight the stories most relevant to the posting.
- Practice telling each in 90 seconds. Rehearse until they sound natural, not memorized.
