What you will learn

Scams to watch for in Midvale
Scammers target people everywhere, including a community like Midvale. These three are among the most common:
- Medicare card and plan calls. Callers offering a free brace or a new Medicare card want your number. Medicare does not cold call to sell things. Free local counseling is available (see below).
- Romance and friendship scams. A new online friend who soon asks for money, even for a small emergency, is a warning sign. Do a reverse image search of their photos and tell a trusted person.
- Fake charity requests. After storms and in the holidays, fake charities appear. Give through a charity you looked up yourself, not one that called or texted you.
If something happens, report it at ReportFraud.ftc.gov and call the AARP Fraud Watch helpline at 877-908-3360 (free, open to everyone).
