What you will learn

Scams to watch for in West Palm Beach
Scammers target people everywhere, including a mid-sized city like West Palm Beach. These three are among the most common:
- Fake AI voices. Scammers can copy a voice from a short clip. If a call sounds like someone you know but asks for money, call them back on a number you trust.
- Grandchild in trouble calls. A caller says a grandchild is in jail or hurt and needs money now. Hang up and call your family member on the number you already have. Agree on a family code word ahead of time.
- Fake tech support pop-ups. A loud warning on your screen with a phone number to call is a trick. Close the browser, restart the computer and never let a stranger take control of it.
If something happens, report it at ReportFraud.ftc.gov and call the AARP Fraud Watch helpline at 877-908-3360 (free, open to everyone).
