ChatGPT vs Claude vs Gemini: Which Should You Try First?

There are three big AI assistants most people hear about: ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini. They all work the same basic way, you type and they reply. For everyday tasks any of them will do. Here is how to choose without overthinking it.

Step by step

  1. ChatGPT. The best known. Friendly, quick, and good all around for writing, explaining and brainstorming. A good first pick if someone you know already uses it and can help.
  2. Claude. Known for a calm, careful writing style and for handling long documents well. Many people like it for letters, summaries and thoughtful back-and-forth.
  3. Gemini. Made by Google and connected to Google tools. It can be handy if you already live in Gmail, Google Docs and Google Maps.
  4. Try the same question in two. Ask the same thing in two of them and notice which answer you like better. That is the fastest way to find your favorite.
  5. Pick one and stay with it for a month. Skills carry over, so there is no wrong choice. Using one regularly teaches you more than comparing all three.
