Create Quiz and Practice Questions With AI

Making fresh practice questions takes time. AI can produce a set quickly, and you decide which to use.

Step by step

  1. Name the topic and level. Say the grade and what was taught.
  2. Pick the format. Multiple choice, short answer or true/false.
  3. Ask for an answer key. Request explanations too.
  4. Solve a few yourself. Spot-check answers, especially in math and science.
  5. Vary difficulty. Ask for easy, medium and hard items.

What to expect

Expect question sets with keys.

Mistakes to avoid

Do not trust answers without checking. Avoid ambiguous wording.

A good next step

Solve it yourself first.

A prompt you can copy

Type this into ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini

Write 10 multiple choice questions on [topic] for grade [x]. Each question has four choices and one correct answer. After the quiz, give an answer key with one sentence of explanation each. Include 3 easy, 4 medium and 3 hard items.

Good to know. AI math answers can be wrong. Always verify the key before handing out a quiz.

Common questions

Can AI grade for me?

It can help draft rubrics, but you should grade student work yourself.

How do I avoid repeated questions?

Ask for new questions on the same skill and keep a bank in a document.
